« Voila, c'est tout | Main | Paris looks to the horizon, Greece across the table »

I remember my first meal in a French family during my year in Paris, when a friend dragged me to her parents' flat unannounced. First course - a mushroom soup to cry over, homemade as a matter of course, yet Renee's mum apologised for not having the chance to prepare a proper dinner.

Just checked. Can't seem to find your Alimentum article.

So you may be right about the coffee. I just got a new stovetop coffeemaker--the kind that Europeans buy when they can't afford a big machine, and I find that the long coffees it produces (Hungarians say hosszú kávé, but I don't remember if the French say café long or not) does wonders at helping me make it to lunchtime without the urge to snack.

Lee, The Alimentum piece will be in the print journal, and won't be coming out for at least a year. Print = delayed gratification!
