Enjoyed your post, but my experience at baseball games has been that people are definitely carrying on like everything's fine. London is a bit of a wake-up call that there is still a situation out there, and it ain't just Iraq.

Hey BZTV, Thanks for your thoughts.

This was my first baseball game this year, three days after I spent a month very close to the Middle East, and it did happen to be on July 4th eve, when naturally everybody would be sensitized to issues of national pride and ethos. The Durham Bulls management also had something to do with all the pomp and circumstance.

I don't doubt on the other days there is something of amnesia or escapism. It just struck me on that night that the crowd was holding its breath.

London ratchets up the tension quite a bit. I hope it takes us towards new ideas, approaches, and solutions, instead of back into the bunker, where the terrorists want us to be.
