Thanks to all who visit BwP. Eight months ago I finally decided to get into blogging after shyly standing at the edge of the blogosphere for a long time. It's been a blast, and I intend to continue as long as inspiration follows.
Seth Godin says there are only three kinds of blogs, the cat blog, the boss blog, and the viral blog (for a .pdf file of his book, click Who's There). The cat blog is about your cat-- that is, about your everyday life. You should never be worried about the traffic on a cat blog, he says. This kind of blog is its own reward. The boss blog is to be read by employees, another limited audience.
A viral blog wants to spread. Bloggers with ideas to disseminate-- the world to change, really-- write viral blogs. Here, 10,000 page views is something to celebrate.
I would like to spread a mature understanding of Greek Mythology and good stories generally. Not only because maturity is good for its own sake. Also because of these things:
- When we understand other cultures, we become better ourselves.
- When we understand ourselves, we become better. Our Western heritage, which includes the good stories of the Greeks, has deeply influenced twenty-first century Americans.
- It always makes a difference to examine why good stories make such a difference in our lives.
- It is nourishing to us and others to foster the good stories being created today.
Efharisto (thanks) for reading.
