I have arrived in New York City, specifically lower Manhattan, where we are staying on Washington Square and using the facilities of New York University for the pre-departure orientation of the Fulbright Seminar to Greece and Cyprus.
So far we have feasted on Greek food and learned some Greek language, as well as getting informed on the modern history of Greece, especially with reference to Turkey, with which it is intertwined historically. Yesterday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, we got our fill of ancient Greek art, some of which I hope to show once I have figured out how to transfer digital pictures to the Web. I also hope to share some of the ideas I got from the art concerning teenagers in Greek Mythology.
My favorite activity? Maybe the Greek folk dancing we did this morning.
Thanks to the Fulbright Commission for their gracious hospitality. This is already great, and we haven't left the United States yet.
